The Mission of LLS.org

Lifted from their website lls.org:

Mission and Goals

The mission of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) is: Cure leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin's disease and myeloma, and improve the quality of life of patients and their families.
LLS is the world's largest voluntary health agency dedicated to blood cancer. LLS funds lifesaving blood cancer research around the world and provides free information and support services.

Our Vision for 2010-2011

Each year, we move closer to our goal of finding a cure for blood cancer. This year to support our mission, we'll be focusing on these specific goals:
  • Continue to fund blood cancer research projects that offer the best chance of accelerating development of new, promising treatment therapies
  • Give more people with blood cancer access to clinical trials
  • Give all people with blood cancer--at every stage of their journey--access to the information and services they need to fight and manage their disease

Our Plan for Growth

We can't achieve our mission without the support of our volunteers, donors, partners and sponsors. We'll continue to reach out to these generous contributors this year to help increase our net revenue. Our plans to do this include:
  • Have volunteers participate more than ever in all our revenue-generating activities. We're encouraging our volunteers to contribute their talents and relationships to growing LLS events and asking their friends, families, co-workers and everyone they know to become LLS sponsors, team members and participants.
  • Continue to offer corporations and organizations tangible reasons aligned with their business goals to partner with LLS through sponsorships, special promotions, co-branding and more.
  • Develop and expand our fundraising programs across Canada.
  • Build our donor pipeline and thank our donors for their generosity in meaningful ways.

Our Promise

LLS will continue to evolve as a world-class organization by engaging our staff, volunteers and partners to strengthen and expand our effectiveness across all programs.

Our North Star 2015 Vision

By fulfilling our goals and growth plans and continuing to be dedicated to our mission, we'll take a major step toward our longer-term objective: The North Star 2015 Vision.
Our North Star 2015 Vision aspires to create a better future for people with blood cancer. Our volunteers and staff will play key roles in achieving the improved outcomes we envision for patients.
By 2015, we're looking to:
  • achieve a high cure rate for most people with blood cancers
  • help those patients who continue to need treatment for blood cancers manage their illness with good quality of life
  • help patients, their families and caregivers navigate the healthcare system by giving them access to effective treatments, information, resources and physical and emotional support
